obviously, i’ve made no secret about sharing the fact that i’m a warcraft addict.
so when i went out and bought the new expansion, wrath of the lich king, i was excited. i purchased the game and brought it home.
i then went to install it. this is where the fun begins.
for some reason, my computer would not read the dvd. the light on the drive just kept flashing. i thought “ok, i got a bad copy. no big deal.” so i tried anyway to upgrade my account using the serial number and i got a message back saying i had to upgrade to burning crusade first.
“hmm, that’s odd. i upgraded when it came out.”
after a few minutes of trying my old serial number and pondering, i remember an old friend of mine and myself swapped accounts at one point because we both had high level characters on each other’s accounts. and in doing that, i upgraded HER account to bc. not normally a big deal. but when i reactivated MY account and leveled a new character, i realized i was not upgraded. of course, i didn’t want to lose my new character, so i emailed blizzard asking what i can do about it.
nothing, they so simply put. codes are good for one account. they told me i could re-activate the other account though. super.
but no, it doesn’t end there.
i sucked it up and re-bought burning crusade, fine. but then when i exchanged the non-working wrath of the lich king, i tested it at the store to make sure the dvd worked. it did. when i got it home, my dvd rom stillwould not read it. so i tried a movie. nothing.
my dvd rom freaking won’t read dvd’s anymore.
so after spending an hour on the phone with costco and hp, they are sending me a new dvd rom. it’s just too much, man.
luckily, after upgrading my account to the lich king anyway, i realized since i was upgraded i can download the installer. so i did. and installed it. and it’s working fine. finally.
the saga will continue again next week when my new dvd rom gets here and i restore my computer. then i get to do this all over again.
awesome.
